This screen provides the facility to search across a Mapping's text lines for a given search string (Find). It gives a comprehensive list of all the component names created for a Mapping which have lines of text containing the given search string.
You can use the Mapping Search action from Mapping - List MQMA or from Mapping - Edit MQMX at any time to search on a Mapping.
When you use the Mapping Search action, you initially get a selection window containing default entries to create a complete list of text lines. For a straight forward Mapping, there may only be a dozen or so text lines and it is not difficult to view all of the data. However, Mappings can quickly become complex, so you can apply selection criteria to shorten the list displayed.
To look at a particular text line in more detail, move the cursor to the appropriate line and use the Amend or View actions. This will start the appropriate screen and you can view (and amend, if necessary) the definition of the item selected. If you are just viewing the definition, use Cancel to return to the list (and then to your original position in the Mapping). If you amended the definition, use Update to save the change and return to the list.
When one of the lines has been amended, use the Refresh action to pick up the changed text lines.
Enter text, up to 18 characters, to restrict the list of text lines to those text lines which contain the text specified. The default value is '%' which displays all the text lines for the Mapping.
Enter a Component name, up to 18 characters, to restrict the list to those items which belong to that component. A partial name can be entered (wildcards may be used). The default value is blank, which matches all component names.
Enter a Component Type, up to five characters, to restrict the list to items of the specified type. Valid codes are held in a mnemonic table. The default value is Zero, which matches all Component Type codes.
Values can be returned by the Cancel action. (A list of current codes is shown below.
Displays the name given to the component item in the list.
Displays a code which is used to identify the component type. A list of current type codes is given below.
Displays the identifier given to the 'parent' of the item being listed. For example, for a report line this field will show the identifier of the report component to which the report line belongs.
Displays a two-digit code which is used to identify the owner type. A list of current type codes is given at the end of this chapter.
Displays the sequence in which the line of text appears within the particular area of the Mapping.
The complete text line which contains the text selected in the Find parameter. This can be changed and updated.
Type codes are used internally by QED, to distinguish between elements of a Mapping. They cannot be amended; however, you can make use of them if you know what they are. The current codes are given below:
