Tax Analysis Parameters MBSA

This screen is used to provide parameters for the Tax Analysis process BS4.

You must specify a company to be processed and a report type.

The report type must be set to All, Date Range by Company, Company Totals only or Company / Ledger totals.

A To date must be provided, defaulting to today.

HMRC Extract: The AR Tax Analysis process BS4 extracts AR transactions that have not previously been reported and produces reports showing the tax values of the transactions/items per Tax Code.

It also provides a reconciliation with GL of the postings made to the Tax Accounts.

The process is extended to provide a data extract to the process.

The data extract outputs AR transactions that were matched to GL so the data can be used for population of the VAT return.

This extract is only produced when the BS4 process is ran in Update Mode and is controlled by the HMRC flag.

It is expected that the tax accountant will usually run the BS4 process in report only mode, until they are satisfied that the data is correct, then run in update mode. Running in update mode means that the AR transactions are marked as having been reported for VAT purposes and they will no longer be reported by the process.

The Digital VAT Returns allows adjustments to be made prior to the VAT Return being completed and sent to HMRC.

Some adjustments may result in GL Journals being created (either manually entered via GL Data Entry, or interfaced into ) to adjust the position of the tax accounts.

These postings should not be extracted by the next tax analysis run (as they have already been included in an electronic VAT Return) so they will need to be ignored from future extracts.

This is achieved by the extract omitting those GL postings to tax control accounts that do not have a Tax Code present.

These transactions may though still be reported on the next run of the AR to GL Reconciliation Report, as they may have been posted to a tax control account set up for module B – Accounts Receivable, but not have arisen from system B.
